General description of the collection: The Robert W. Mearns papers include general officer's papers: voluminous official papers sent and received by Mearns, mostly while in the Philippines, 1900-1908; while serving at Camps Sherman, Gordon and Beauregard, 1917-1919; and while serving the IX Corps area, 1921-1922; which includes correspondence, reports, orders and official financial papers. Most personal items are of a miscellaneous nature, that might be termed "souvenirs". Some personal financial papers are available, but personal correspondence is negligible.
